A group of SCP-XXXX-1 in sensory deprivation

Item# SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Pending

Special Containment Procedures: A walled perimeter spanning three-thousand (3000) square meters surrounds the wooded area in which all known SCP-XXXX reside. The wall is to be constantly smoothened as to prevent any instance of SCP-XXXX-1 from climbing out. Termination of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX is a priority, though the forest is home to an endangered bird species so razing of the forest is prohibited. Any scrap or residual metals are to be recycled and compressed in Compactor-B and brought to Roof Storage Unit-C. At 1230 hours on Fridays and Sundays, pilots are to carry the metal on two (2) to five (5) CH-3E Super Stallion helicopters. Pilots are to drop the clusters at clearings Alpha and Beta. If instances of SCP-XXXX-1 do not appear within five (5) to ten (10) minutes, pilots are to fly back to base.1 If instances of SCP-XXXX-1 appear, pilots are instructed to open fire until all have either fled or been terminated. Containment Perimeters "Love Bat" and "Rosy" are to prevent civilian contact with SCP-XXXX(-1) and vice versa.

Extraction protocol allows for up to four (4) specimens of SCP-XXXX to be removed for testing within a month’s time. The same protocols forbid any specimens of SCP-XXXX-1 to be removed from the area unless testing proposals are passed by a Level 4 personnel or higher. Otherwise all instances of SCP-XXXX are to be kept within the walls executed with extreme prejudice if seen. All specimens taken from Perimeters “Love Bat” and “Rosy” are to be taken to Research Site 45 within forty eight (48) hours of recovery or should the time limit surpass, terminated.

Entering the containment area is allowed only by authorization by Professor Ferris for testing purposes exclusively. Entrance requires a Level 2 security clearance or higher. Anyone entering must be stay in specialized wood plated cars and must not spend more then twelve (12) hours within the area. Anyone with type O (+ or -) blood will be given instant denial for entry.

In the event that the containment perimeter is broken, all personnel are to calmly escort themselves to the nearest safety bunker. Rescue teams are to arrive and aid in evacuation.

Description SCP-XXXX is a species of arthropod that resides in a forest eight (8) kilometers east of Berwick, Louisiana. SCP-XXXX’s body is made entirely of varying metals ranging from common tin to rarities such as rose gold and platinum yet they still display characteristic of living creatures.

An instance of SCP-XXXX in containment
Most instances of SCP-XXXX measure six (6) cm in length, one (1) cm in width with varying weight depending on the metal. The largest specimens have measured up to ten (10) cm and usually are comprised of mixed metals. SCP-XXXX bodies resemble that of an undeveloped larvae with a powerful spring operated tail in the back. The head is covered in small hair-like wires and sports retractable mandibles two and a half (2.5) cm long with small chemical glands within.2 SCP-XXXX have highly sensitive bellies that can detect vibrations from many feet away. SCP-XXXX does not require food or air although it can die if the head or much of the body is destroyed and can rust.

In the event that SCP-XXXX detects a human being, it will spring upward and then attach itself to the waterline of the host's eyelid. This can happen sometimes without the host noticing. SCP-XXXX will then discharge its body and use its fibrous hairs to crawl its way behind the eye. SCP-XXXX will travel up to optical nerve. This may result in serious migraines, blurred vision, monochromatic eyesight, and complete blindness within four (4) to eight (8) hours. upon reaching the brain, SCP-XXXX will attach itself to the frontal lobe and release a chemical. The host will experience symptoms similar to severe mental retardation, spurious and often unprovoked tantrums may also occur. Within a few days the host will be unable to articulate speech, walk properly, or eat on their own.

All keratin will be directed towards the teeth and nails causing them to grow rapidly to at least five (5) times their normal size and fifty (50) times their average density, this can cause severe rupturing of the cuticles and gums. The rapid tooth expansion can lead to severe internal hemorrhaging of the mouth, leading to a scarlet coloration of the face near areas of bleeding. This symptom was coined "redmaw" by Dr. ███████. The lack of keratin in the body will cause paling of the skin not dissimilar to albinism and loss of hair. The final stages set in as late as two (2) weeks after contact and are marked by the appearance of large fungal growths on the ear that eventually take a coned shape. During this time, layers of the stomach and intestines grow to become much harder then any other organ.

At this point the host has become an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. While lacking in eyesight, SCP-XXXX-1 have exquisite hearing far surpassing that of a human being due to their enlarged ears as well has heightened speed and strength. They have been seen scaling walls with great speed and also tear through solid metals in a matter of minutes. SCP-XXX-1 are incapable of higher levels of thinking.3 SCP-XXXX-1 will start taking an emaciated form after a few weeks.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will travel in packs though are sometimes seen alone. They will avoid sunlight due to the sensitivity of their skin and at night will emerge in search of metallic substances. SCP-XXXX-1 will consume any metal they find, usually preferring iron. While not immediately hostile, there have been many accounts of assault by SCP-XXXX-1 most of which result in death. SCP-XXXX-1 is easily provoked by loud noises and being approached to quickly. While weary of humans, SCP-XXXX-1 will be come blatantly hostile towards any human that provokes it. As time has progressed since █/█/██, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have become aggravated by increasingly meanial provocations. While instances of SCP-XXXX-1 used to become aggressive if attacked or approached with moron vehicles, they have since attacked humans for reasons as trivial as throwing a stone, running in any direction, or making excessive noise. In any instance where SCP-XXXX-1 encounters a human with Type O blood, they will attempt to kill the subject without provocation and make an insision beneath the ribs using its teeth. SCP-XXXX-1 will then attempt to drink the blood. The reason for this is not properly understood, the presence of iron in the blood has been made the most likely explanation. Note that people with Type O blood do not have any difference in iron in the blood.

Tests in containment have shown SCP-XXXX-1's reluctance to eat any substance beyond metal. Any food, plants, meat, plastics, wooden materials, or rock is ignored. SCP-XXXX-1 also appears to have completely hindered tactioception or simply no responses to it. When the head is covered in a multilayered sack that deprives them of sound, taste, sight, and hearing they will enter a hunched position. None have ever responded to any form of touch. Actions ranging from light prods to limb amputation have offered no reaction. Other tests involving removal of ear drums, eyes, tongue, and olfactory sensors have yielded the same result. Even in normal conditions SCP-XXXX-1 shows no reaction to physical contact with any item. It appears to be reliant completely on other senses, although SCP-XXXX-1's coordination has sparked theories that it may indeed have a sense of touch.

After a certain point, SCP-XXXX-1 will become highly inactive for roughly a week. Tests have shown metal in the stomach changing shape at this point. SCP-XXXX-1 will then anally expel a varying amount of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 will then continue searching for metal and will repeat this indefinitely, it is unknown if SCP-XXXX-1 can die of old age.

SCP-XXXX-1 attempting to scale an electrified fence at Containment perimeter "Love Bat"
History: In 20██, Agent Bhatt uncovered strange reports coming from the Berwick area surrounding missing car parts and house sections that had been stripped down overnight. Stories ranged from burglars to monsters and locals were going missing. Massive claw and teeth marks were found in on metal surfaces and some residents reported screeching and groaning noises at night. The Foundation sent Agent Swanson to investigate, while searching she discovered a group of SCP-XXXX-1 huddled in a cave. Upon returning to report her find, a SCP-XXXX jumped from the ground and attached itself to her waterline. The SCP-XXXX was extracted before it could damage her brain, but her left eye was removed.

Heading the operation, Dr. ███████ attempted to reason with many SCP-XXXX-1 with no avail. SCP-XXXX-1 either fled or attacked any personnel who approached them. While clandestine, the Foundation's presence in the area seemed to aggravate the SCP-XXXX-1 causing them to be more aggressive. Locals of Berwick were concerned when cars, plumbing, and core foundations of their house went missing. The Foundation took forceful action to contain SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX after █/█/██. Berwick resident Walter ██████████'s entirely metal home disappeared overnight and he was found in dead with six (6) instances of SCP-XXXX inside him. Two (2) were still hanging onto his eyelids with bodies attached. One (1) was nuzzled inside his optical nerve and two (2) were attached to his brain. The conflicting chemicals released into his body triggered a cardiac arrest and he died within minutes. Walter's house was found disassembled and partially eaten in a cave in the woods. Two dozen (24) SCP-XXXX-1 were huddled around it in a pile of newborn SCP-XXXX. The Foundation built containment perimeters "Love Bat" and "Rosy" in order to contain them.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are animalistic and never emit any sign of intelligence. Subject Y-336 is seen as a remarkable exception. Subject Y-336 previously known as Lawrence Gain was a twenty seven (27) year old male who was given sufficient medical treatment by the Foundation within two (2) days after he showed symptoms of becoming a SCP-XXXX-1.

Interview with Subject Y-336

Interviewee: Lawrence Gain

Interviewer: Agent Bhatt

Gain was restrained for the interview by metal clasps around his hands and was under watch by Security officers John Simmons and Pablo Bolivar. The interview was intended to establish contact with SCP-1568-1 for future testing.

Begin Log. [█/█/██ at Research Sight 45: 11:45 a.m.]

Agent Bhatt: This is agent Aakash Bhatt with Subject-Y-336 previously know as one Lawrence Gain. Subject shows signs of intelligence though his acumen appears to be [pauses] questionable. [to Gain] Hello Lawrence, how are feeling today?

Gain: I'm…I'm better.

Agent Bhatt: Nurse ██████ said that you were improving, she said you finally ate some food.

Gain: …….

Agent Bhatt: Lawrence? Is that what you did today, did you eat some food?

Gain: I…yes. I ate some…some jello I think.

Agent Bhatt: Now listen, I'm going to run through some questions and I want you to answer them honestly. Can you see properly?

Gain: Only out of my left eye [points to right eye]. It is blur although.

Agent Bhatt: Right. Now tell me about where you were born, your childhood.

Gain: Well I was born in…in…

Agent Bhatt: Baton Rouge right?

Gain: Yes Baton Rouge. I went to the dance and built me my playground. Playground was made of…metal sticks. Metal is my favorite. Brothers and I played day long all in field. I can remember my mom would watch us play time until dinner.4

Agent Bhatt: Right. Now about your…err…irregular eating habits. Can you tell me why you crave metal.

Gain: It feels right. Iron gives the tingle. The good tingle. [goes silent and breathes heavily]

Agent Bhatt: Lawrence? Lawrence look at me. Dammit I'm losing him. [to guards] can someone get the nurse.

[Thirty (30) second pause]

Gain: Blood. Iron and blood give best tingles. I can see who has best blood…right blood with nose of I. [Lawrence Gain begins having erratic spasms]

Agent Bhatt: No wait put down you guns he's harmless.

Simmons: Sir we have explicit orders to protect you.

Agent Bhatt: He's not doing anything. This behavior is perfectly normal.

Bolivar: He's twitching the fuck out, how is that normal?

Agent Bhatt: Lower your weapons or your new names will start with the letter D.

[Simmons and Bolivar lower their weapons]

Agent Bhatt: Lawrence! Lawrence! [presses earpiece] What is happening? What do you mean he's flatlined. No, no he's moving in front of me. Well then get over here. Hey and bring a defibrillator with you.

[Sixty (60) second pause] [Nurse ██████ enters the room with Medical assistant ████████ and Dr. Sanders with medical supplies]

Agent Bhatt: Alright he's stopped moving. Feel for his pulse.

Sanders: Alright I'm not getting any readings. ████████, get me the defibrillator. [Sanders places defibrillator on Gain's chest] Alright, clear. [shock administered] Clear. [shock administered]

[After thirteen (13) intervals of shocks, Lawrence Gain has been clinically dead for ten (10) minutes]

Sanders: Alright I'm raising the charge again. Clear. [shock administered; Gain's heart begins to beat. After three (3) seconds it accelerates to two hundred (200) bpm]

Sanders: What the hell?

[Gain breaks free of his restraints.]

Simmons: Holy fuck. Kill him Kill him.

[In the following minutes, Gain killed five (5) of the occupants in the room, leaving Simmons severely maimed in the facial area and right arm. Gain escaped the room and crawled into the ventilation before being terminated by a security unit.

End Log. 12:21 a.m.

Closing Statement: All instances of SCP-1568-1 were issued to be executed with extreme prejudice. The families of Agent Bhatt and the other victims received false stories of a hunting accident involving a pack of wolves. The bodies were kept within Foundation custody for further analysis

I understand that part of out motto is to contain. But certain cases such as these require practicality. I fear that mere "containment" is not effective here. If even one of them [SCP-XXXX] escaped, the ramifications could be devastating. I request that we seek them out, kill them, to combat with that which jeopardizes our own kind. Sympathy with these monstrosities is a fatal mistake that I do not want to see repeated. Aakash Bhatt was a friend of mine, for his sake, allow us to end these abominable mistakes of nature. -Dr. ███████'s proposal for open killings of SCP-XXXX-1
