SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained on Site-XX within a layered steel chamber no smaller than 10 meters by 10 meters by 10 meters. The interior of the chamber is to be lined with industrial-grade ceramic fiber thermal insulation, with RTD temperature sensors placed on each of the chamber's interior faces. Frequent visual monitoring of the object via live security feed is required, though constant visual contact, whether direct or indirect, is discouraged. The door to SCP-XXXX’s containment area is to be sealed by no fewer than three separate methods:

  • An electromagnetic seal requiring a Class 4 Key card authorization to unlock
  • Dual disc tumbler locks, required to be activated simultaneously in order to disengage the lock. One key is to be kept by the on-site security team, while the other is to be kept by the Site Director, only to be used under authorization of O5 personnel.
  • A bolt locking mechanism consisting of four solid steel bolts measuring 10cm long and 5cm in diameter with wheel-handled release.

Monitoring of the heat resistant lining of the containment area of SCP-XXXX via RTD thermal sensors must be continuous, and verification of the insulation material's integrity must be carried out at weekly intervals. Should degradation be observed, the Site Director is to be notified immediately in order to request authorization to move SCP-XXXX to a secondary containment area, where it will remain until such a time as repairs to the primary containment chamber are completed. All personnel entering the containment area or transporting the object are required to wear protective equipment of a Level A fire proximity suit graded for prolonged resistance to no less than 1000 degrees Celsius.

Addendum XXXX.a: If any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are observed upon entry into the containment area either by the entry team or by the remote monitoring station, all personnel are to immediately vacate the containment chamber and reseal the door. Under no circumstances are any personnel allowed into the chamber while SCP-XXXX-1 is present or for a period of 24 hours after the instance withdraws. See Incident Report XXXX-A.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a small sample of stone approximately 18cm in length and 8cm wide and weighing about 1kg. Its chemical composition matches that of ordinary Labradorite, and bears no obvious characteristics that make it distinguishable from ordinary stone. It was originally discovered near ███████████, Sweden after reports of a [REDACTED] being seen in the foothills of ██████████.

SCP-XXXX has a surface temperature of approximately 100 degrees Celsius, and has been shown to create an area of dangerously high ambient temperatures within a 5 meter radius, with temperatures reaching as high as 1000 degrees Celsius. It is unknown at this time what the source of SCP-XXXX’s high surface temperature is, though Dr. █████████ believes it is due to the object’s connection to [REDACTED].

The object appears to have some form of sentience, and is capable of communicating nonverbally with personnel at or near its containment site. The method by which SCP-XXXX achieves communication is not yet fully understood, but it appears to have a form of compulsion effect on nearby humans, causing them to be drawn to the object. It is unknown if this effect is limited to humans, or if other sapient beings could also be affected. SCP-XXXX does not need to be in the same room as the subject of its influence to maintain a connection, but it has been shown that limiting visual contact with the object can inhibit its ability to influence a subject.

A subject under the influence of SCP-XXXX is compelled to enter SCP-XXXX’s containment chamber in an attempt to make direct physical contact with the object. Initially,The subject’s behavior will appear unchanged, therefore identification of a subject being manipulated by SCP-XXXX has proven difficult. However, at some point while under the control of the object, the subject will attempt to reach SCP-XXXX by any means necessary. This often leads to a subject attempting to deceive other Foundation personnel in order to gain access to the containment area. DIRECT PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH SCP-XXXX MUST BE PREVENTED BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. SECURITY PERSONNEL ARE AUTHORIZED TO TERMINATE ANY SUBJECT WHO HAS MADE CONTACT WITH THE OBJECT IMMEDIATELY.(Subjects who have made direct physical contact with SCP-XXXX are designated as SCP-XXXX-2).

SCP-XXXX-1 is a humanoid entity standing approximately 2.4 meters tall. It appears wearing battle gear similar to a Viking berserker's and carrying a large bearded axe. SCP-XXXX-1 is not immediately hostile, but will demand that intruders into SCP-XXXX’s containment area leave. If its command is not heeded, SCP-XXXX-1 will attack with the intent to kill, and will not cease its attacking for any reason until all within the containment area are dead. The Entity will not, however, leave the containment area in order to chase down a fleeing victim. It should be noted that SCP-XXXX-1 has never been observed to appear within SCP-XXXX’s containment area when no other subject is present within the chamber, and only appears about 30% of the time when an entry team is present. The reason for this is currently unknown.
