Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 is kept inside a small security box located at Site-47. The security box that contains SCP-XXXX-1 is measured at .25 metres in all dimensions. SCP-XXXX is to be locked up and secured inside its security box at all times except in the case of testing. (See Addendum XXXX-A)
Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an 8.9 centimetre standard-sized floppy disk. SCP-XXXX-1 does not have any anomalous properties excluding its content. The content of SCP-XXXX-1 (SCP-XXXX-2) is a video file approximately thirty seconds long. When played, the video shows a poorly drawn humanoid figure running across the screen. The limbs of the humanoid (specifically the legs) are noted to become disfigured and unproportional at several times during the video. It is believed SCP-XXXX-2 was created using the two applications MS Paint and Movie Maker.
SCP-XXXX-2 has a cognitohazard effect on any of the viewers that watch it above a frame-rate of eight. Viewing of SCP-XXXX-2 below this select frame-rate or in a single-frame image will not effect the viewers. So far, there is a death toll of ██ that has been caused by the video. Approximately ██ minutes after exposure, viewers will begin muscle deterioration in the calves and thighs. The cause of the deterioration is unknown, and most of the viewers are oblivious to it. Approximately █ hours after exposure, viewers will begin to walk in the same manner as shown in SCP-XXXX-2. The viewer accomplishes this by forcefully breaking and removing their own limbs in any way possible, attempting to reenact a scenario similar to the video. Viewers are fully aware of what they are doing and react as expected in cases of severe mutilation. Unless the viewer is restrained, the viewer will continue these behaviors until death. Other long-term effects of viewing SCP-XXXX-2 are the refusal to eat, drink, or sleep unless subjects are heavily medicated and/or restrained and forced. Approximately 1 week or 10 days after viewing, viewers will (in most cases) die of dehydration.
SCP-XXXX-2 was created by the nine-year old child of the [REDACTED] family in 19██. It is unknown when or how SCP-XXXX-2 gained its anomalous properties. SCP-XXXX came to the Foundation’s attention in 19██, when SCP-XXXX-2 was shown at a family reunion. Approximately one day later, all fourteen family members of the [REDACTED] family (that were at the reunion) checked into the ██████ hospital. Each family member reported to have broken arms and legs in multiple locations, and seven of the family members having an arm or leg severed from the body.
Addendum XXXX-A: At least ██ D-Class personnel have been used up in the testing of SCP-XXXX-2 and have brought us little to no results. Because of this, I am putting a hiatus on all testing with SCP-XXXX. There is no reason to waste any more D-Class personnel than we already have, even if they are expendable. -Dr. Westfield
Incident-XXXX-B: On ██-██-20██, three level-one personnel were attempting to remove SCP-XXXX-1 from the computer it was inside. One of these personnel, Mr. ██████ (deceased) accidentally restarted the video before SCP-XXXX-1 could be removed. Dr. Westfield suggested that in an attempt to reverse the effects, [DATA EXPUNGED]. After this action was taken (and failed), all three level-one personnel were terminated.
