Special Containment Procedures: SCP is to be attended by elite or SCP-augmented security detail that can comprise the 1% of the Foundation’s top operators, field-scientists, undercover agents, and computer-science engineers. Complete secrecy and anonymity between authorized personnel is imperative and must be strictly enforced while securing SCP- for various EOE class situations. SCP- is to be exchanged between randomly decided O5 designated “handlers” who can fulfill the attached SCP- usage guidelines and Prof. Gates’ expectations. Communication from handler(s) while securing SCP- to— the Administrator— and O5 leadership can be made at any time and is to be kept under 1 minute to ensure no compromise between sides; any communication lasting more than 1 minute is to be rendered void and disregarded, unless attached SCP- usage guidelines are fulfilled. Due to the nature and capabilities of SCP-, the authorized personnel handler(s) must not touch the keys of SCP- unless doing so fulfills attached SCP- EOE contingency guidelines.

Description: SCP- is a block of metal that resembles and functions like a standard laptop computer. Varying aesthetic and physical characteristics have been found to exist in SCP- when exchanged between users, recorded instances having various hues of blue and purple on its surface or ergonomic handle bars for convenience. Despite minor or drastic changes in the core shape of SCP-, it can still be identified by having the static dimensions of 11' by 7' by 2', two USB ports, an internal extendable antenna, a cooling fan, and a layer of dust that envelops its surface around the cooling fan.
Anomalous properties exist within its core programming, internal, and external hardware. X-ray and infrared analysis shows wires and circuitry connected to an empty space that continuously emits heat produced by average laptops at normal operating speeds. Even with the central operating system turned on or off, SCP- will continue to emit the same temperature of 67° Celsius. Further testing shows that SCP- constantly maintains an internal 67° Celsius despite absence or excess of heat created by any environment SCP- is placed in. It is thought that SCP-’s heat and stress threshold is indefinitely high after researchers dumped liquid nitrogen and thermite simultaneously on its surface and found they could still type and interact on its programs without noticeable changes in operating speed.
Dismantling of SCP- has been attempted once and has resulted in unconceivable and unaccountable incidents. While it is possible to take apart SCP- with appropriate tools, personnel tasked with doing so must be the designated “handler” as if any other person were to access SCP-, they will be electrocuted by its internal circuitry wearing protection or not.
Persons have been electrocuted regardless of their relationship to the handler and entirely based upon their proximity to SCP- at a distance of 4 feet.
