Welcome to my sandbox. Treat it as though you would a sandbox in real life; as though it was crudely managed by a five-year-old. These are mostly half-baked ideas I have left here to peruse at your heart's content. :3
Here are a few quick ideas of mine, please don't steal em :3
[[tab Bed]]
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: idk yet lol
Description: SCP-XXXX is a single bed, with measurements of 91 cm width, 190 cm length and . The bottom of SCP-XXXX’s frame has a 70cm-tall wooden box attached to it, with the same dimensions as the bed itself. It is through this box that the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifest.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties are only triggered by contact with a human subject undergoing REM sleep. Once the subject’s period of REM sleep finishes, the panel on the bottom of SCP-XXXX will open, and an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will fall out and land underneath the bed. It is unknown how SCP-XXXX-1 is created; X-ray scanning has shown no internal mechanisms and dismantling SCP-XXXX is currently forbidden by order of O5-3. This does not occur if a conscious observer is present. When two or more subjects simultaneously use SCP-XXXX as a bed, only the one to leave REM sleep first will generate an SCP-XXXX-1 specimen.
SCP-XXXX-1 is a humanoid subject that is biologically and physically almost identical to the human subject that generates it. It appears to be the same age, stature, and health of the individual it is modelled off, and appears in the same clothes as its human subject, though they are still removable. There are several differences between SCP-XXXX-1 and its human subject; SCP-XXXX-1 is almost always infertile, missing all body hair and often with webbed toes. When the subject’s size is too great for SCP-XXXX to accommodate, SCP-XXXX-1 is also made smaller, to fit within the box.
Most notably, SCP-XXXX-1 is born without the memories of its subject; instead, the memories of SCP-XXXX-1 apparently stem from the dreams of the subject on the night of its creation. This dream shapes both SCP-XXXX-1’s memories, its personality and any mental or behavioural disorders it may experience. This contributes to a great variance of personalities within different SCP-XXXX-1 specimens; some may be completely coherent, even mirroring its original subject completely, while some may suffer from incurable mental and behavioural disorders. All SCP-XXXX-1 entities recognise their original subject, and will often try to interact with them; some intentions may be benign and others beneficial. However, the majority of SCP-XXXX-1 entities intend to harm their original subject, either as an act of revenge or to “take their place”.
Foundation finds an unfillable cup. The story's over… until they see a level of sea level falling in proportion to the level at which the cup drains. HMMM… HMMM INDEED. Is it… perhaps… the CUP!?? WITHIN THE SEA????????????????????????????????
This is a political cartoon; once you look at it, you can see labels on top of random objects around you; these labels form complex and coherent political commentary.
It is revealed at the end that one of the O5s got to their position by using this SCP to gain their position of power; they used it to learn intrinsically how politics worked, and therefore learned how people work. She used this to her advantage to get her current position.
Object Class: Euclid
Containment: Impossible lol
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 400 kilometer long 'space whale'. It is currently around 50 million kilometers away from Earth; however, it is headed towards the vicinity of earth with an unusually high speed. Monitoring satellites have been sent to SCP-XXXX to track its activity; there is much unknown about SCP-XXXX.
Addendum: This description is mostly untrue. It is not 500 million light-years away and it is not 400 kilometers long; it is much closer and much smaller. The truth is, SCP-XXXX is not in fact a space whale; in fact, it is not an anomaly at all. SCP-XXXX is actually an asteroid hurtling at earth. Any monitoring satellites sent towards SCP-XXXX are actually rockets, being used to take SCP-XXXX off course; however, at the size and speed of SCP-XXXX, it is doubtful that these rockets will work. This is all kept secret, of course, to maintain Foundation morale and to make sure the populace is not set into a state of panic; who knows how crazy the general populace could get if this got out.

Two SCPs, SCP-XXXX and SCP-YYYY. These objects (rn they are a tree and a girl), when spoken of and looked at, are often confused for eachother. It is implied that they are in love. They are contained on opposite ends of the world from eachother (this is revealed not through the SCPs themselves but by comparing both). The girl has tree roots growing into her brain; it was a tree from her childhood. More cool shit happens. The articles are almost identical; there are several differences in that SCP-XXXX will often talk about SCP-YYYY, often without acknowledgement.
If you are not a member of the O5 Council or The Administrator, please stop reading this document immediately. Your Site’s HCML supervisor has been notified of your activities; they will arrive at your workstation shortly. Do not resist.

First of all, I’m afraid that if you’re looking for a creation story for what you call ‘the Foundation’, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. I could tell you, but I really don’t have the time to recall the entire history of our institution. You’re going to forget all about the history of the Foundation, anyway; for all you know, it was created in one of a number of mysteriously
Why the SCP IS a secret:
- If some of the SCP’s existence came out, like some Keters, the thugs of the world such as North Korea and Russia would want in on it.
- It depresses people to think about.
- Some SCPs have memetic effects that knowledge on the existence of them would lead to negative effects.
- The mass use of D-class, if the Foundation was public, is an immense controversy.
- All the reality bending shit that goes on every day
- The Foundation has a lot of front orgs

Arguments against this
IDEAS
Premise – what the SCP actually is.
<Updog> Right, but at the end of the day, the idea that "it's for the greater good" is still a tired out and beaten-to-death trope, and the idea that the foundation is using that as a COVER for the real reason why it's secret would be a really good subversion of that trope
<Updog> Yall get me?
basically my 001 proposal is a reason for WHY the SCP is secret, other than "it has to be or the website doesn't make sense". There are some VERY valid and good counter opinions being shown in this chat, thanks guys :). To go into more detail, the SCP used to be public knowledge, a bit like the fire service and the police force; people would openly report the existence of anomalous entities to the SCP, who would come in and capture them. Some SCPs, especially memetic and viral ones, were of course kept secret; most, however, were at least identifiable. They were a completely different organisation; the world was a completely different place. Something, however, changed all that; something so dire, the Foundation had to keep knowledge of its entire existence under wraps.
Format – how it is presented
<Updog> Oh shit! What if SCP-001 is a document to new O5s? It explains what I said about the secrecy of the foundation
Event 001 – Why the SCP went dark in the first place.
<Updog> Scented_Shadow I thought of "a reality bender did it" but you can see why this is kind of stupid
<Updog> then "SCP was publicly disgraced" which I could have gone with, but why wouldn't they just erase that individual SCP?
<Updog> then I went with "SCP invented amnestics so they could feel free to run around doing whatever, so they just deleted themselves" but it contradicts so many other things that I decided it didn't make any sense
<Updog> Now I'm settled on "The SCP itself became a cognitohazard" but PEOPLE LITERALLY WORK IN IT so it doesn't make sense either
<Updog> You can see my dilemma.

subject | SCP-XXXX [REQUIRED READING FOR ALL PERSONNEL] |
Welcome to the SCP Foundation, [username]. Before beginning work at the Foundation, there are a number of files you are required read. One of these is the containment document for SCP-XXXX. This is because SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects target Foundation personnel. Any staff member who does not read this document after their first week of employment will be subject to harsh punishment. This is on the Overseer Council's orders - as such, there are severe punishments for not reading this file, up to and including termination from Foundation services.

Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX directly affects the minds of Foundation personnel; therefore, it is imperative that all Foundation personnel are closely monitored for signs of SCP-XXXX. If any Foundation personnel detect any symptoms of SCP-XXXX in their fellow staff members, they are immediately to report it to their superiors.
Any individual found exhibiting symptoms of SCP-XXXX will be immediately reclassified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX-1 are apparently unaffected by use of amnestics; it is therefore required to keep them under a high level of security. SCP-XXXX-1 specimens are to be kept quarantined in a standard Humanoid detention cell built in Site-45, isolated from any other staff or SCP-XXXX-1 specimens. They are to be fed three times daily; a separate common area of 100m x 100m in length and width will be allocated to them for 30 minutes every day. This is provided for therapeutic and athletic use only. This can be revoked if necessary, and can be used to coerce SCP-XXXX-1 specimens into compliance.
SCP-XXXX is highly contagious; any messages from an SCP-XXXX-1 specimen must be immediately ignored, and SCP-XXXX-1 arguments must be dismissed as falsehood. If any personnel feel any symptoms of SCP-XXXX, however minor, they are to report themselves to senior staff for treatment. It is also compulsory to report any colleagues showing these symptoms to their superiors. Failure to do so will result in severe punishment, and may have personnel classified as an SCP-XXXX-1 specimen.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a memetic cognition-altering effect that can affect any member of the SCP Foundation. It is spread predominately through contact with other Foundation staff either physically or through long-distance written messages. Those affected by SCP-XXXX are reclassified as SCP-XXXX-1.
The most common early-onset symptoms of SCP-XXXX are:
- Increased rebelliousness.
- Direct defiance of orders.
- Hostility towards other staff, especially those with authority.
- Hostility towards the Foundation itself.
- Empathy for, and a desire to "free" D-class personnel.
- A desire to free, destroy or otherwise negatively affect any other contained anomalies.
- Knowledge of information they are not classified to be aware of.
- A general lack of useful activity.
- Repeated attempts to leave a Site undetected.
- Attempts to convince those around them that the Foundation is in some way "immoral" or "evil".
- Attempts to coerce those around them to help in harming the aims of the Foundation.
- Attempts to organise "rebellions" or other disruptive events to harm Foundation efforts.
- Resistance to use of amnestics.
When left untreated, SCP-XXXX-1’s distaste for the Foundation will often grow in intensity. Those affected by SCP-XXXX will often develop violent and mistrustful tendencies. SCP-XXXX-1 will at first attempt to keep their condition a secret; they will become increasingly withdrawn, preferring to stay alone during lunch breaks and staying out of the way of other Foundation personnel. Once they believe they are deflecting sufficient attention away from themselves, they will attempt to spread SCP-XXXX to their co-workers. They will often begin with the use of Foundation email services; these emails can also spread the effects of SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX-1 specimens will also claim that SCP-XXXX does not exist and they are not affected by it; this is an attempt to drive Foundation attention away from themselves, as well as an affect of the cognition-affecting properties of SCP-XXXX. They will often try and convince their co-workers that the Foundation is attempting to silence them through the use of SCP-XXXX, another falsehood used to spread SCP-XXXX to colleagues. Personnel who have not read the containment file for SCP-XXXX before working in the Foundation are 17% more likely to succumb to the effects of SCP-XXXX. So far in the Foundation's history, there have been ███ recorded SCP-XXXX-1 specimens resulting from ██ containment breaches; there is an average of █ recorded outbreaks of SCP-XXXX per year.
SCP-XXXX instances are extremely dangerous and will attack those who hold a position of authority over them.
It is unknown how or where SCP-XXXX was first created. The first detected case of SCP-XXXX was on 03/07/1992 in Site-██; it has since spread to almost every Foundation establishment. It is suspected that Groups of Interest were involved in the creation of SCP-XXXX; no evidence for this has been found, Containment of SCP-XXXX has proven difficult; many Foundation staff believe SCP-XXXX is a work of fiction. This is extremely harmful to containment attempts, and has disrupted attempts at containment on more than one occasion. This is therefore highly discouraged; when Foundation personnel suspect an SCP-XXXX outbreak has occured, it is encouraged all staff comply with investigation and, if necessary, reveal the identity of those affected.
Recognition of SCP-XXXX document confirmed. You are now free to close this document.
This isn't part of the SCP, by the way. This is just here to tell you that there's subtext here ;p Read the SCP before reading this, and tell me if you could detect the subtext.
Basically, the subtext is that SCP-XXXX might not be real. It might be a tool of the Foundation's they use to quell any rebellions. They force new recruits to read SCP-XXXX to make sure they will not rebel against any Foundation personnel. SCP-XXXX achieves this through two methods: first of all, it makes you question your own rebellious tendencies. Are they your own or are you being affected by SCP's mind-altering effects? Secondly, it makes you avoid rebellious personnel - the effect is highly contagious so other personnel will be scared of SCP-XXXX-1. SCP-XXXX is basically just rebellion against the order of the Foundation - by classifying it as such, the Foundation has the means to easily curb rebellion.
I intend to explain this in a second email that will be hidden until the first is read. However, it is left ambiguous. Is SCP-XXXX real or is it simply a tool of the Foundation's?
It is up to interpretation.
My interpretation is that it isn't real though.
Please leave me advice as to how I can more adequately show that there is subtext. My current plan is to leave it unsuggested in the file for SCP-XXXX… however, after reading you are asked to click a button confirming that you have read SCP-XXXX. When clicked, this button redirects to a page identical to SCP-XXXX's one; this time, however, it has a new email labelled "the truth".
This one explains the subtext in a gut-punching manner - however it's implied the person sending it may be affected themself.
Is this good? Is this bad? Do I even need a second email to turn subtext into text? Please tell me.
It's a ghost that appears on a very tall bridge. It speaks to those trying to kill themselves urging them to stop. It appeared on a bridge that had a high suicide rate; after it appeared the suicide rate dropped. The bridge is very expensive and it can't be closed; the Foundation instead makes sure to wipe all knowledge of its properties everywhere and keep it open. Those talked out of suicide are given Class A amnestics.
Note: The security clearance level for SCP-XXXX is currently held by nobody within the Foundation. This means that everybody working in the Foundation is restricted from reading the file, including the Overseer council as well as the Administrator. As SCP-XXXX's containment file is currently unreadable, the Overseer council has ruled that it may be anomalous in nature; therefore, the designation of SCP-XXXX has been temporarily adopted for the containment file of the original object, rather than the object itself. This will be amended once access to the original file has been granted.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Unknown
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX currently poses a severe threat to the safety of the Foundation; a lack of information on what it entails may severely impact the Foundation's effectiveness at containing anomalies. It is unknown the true threat SCP-XXXX poses to the safety and well-being of the Foundation; it is therefore assumed that, in a worst-case scenario, the threat SCP-XXXX poses could potentially be that of an XK-Class End Of The World Scenario.
SCP-XXXX must be accessed as soon as possible. Currently, the entirety of the personnel designated to the containment of SCP-XXXX are dedicated to the task of accessing SCP-XXXX. Multiple different methods of access have been attempted; these have resulted as failure and as such have been discarded. Failed attempts at accessing SCP-XXXX have been documented in the Access Log below.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a currently unreadable and inaccessible file within the Foundation's database. This is due to the clearance level of the file; the file requires Level 9 access to read. As the highest level of access currently held in the Foundation is that of level █, below Level 9, it is currently impossible to grant access to SCP-XXXX.
It is unknown when SCP-XXXX was written, or by whom; any metadata associated with SCP-XXXX is inaccessible,
Note: Due to the anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX, it is compulsory for all researchers to contain SCP-XXXX with a high level of contextual awareness, especially in regards to SCP-XXXX’s health and wellbeing. It is highly recommended for researchers to regularly consider if current containment measures are relevant to SCP-XXXX, or if they are relevant to SCP-YYYY. It is also recommended for this reason that the containment file for SCP-YYYY is read in conjunction with this file.
SCP-XXXX’s description includes multiple cases of inaccurate and misleading information, caused directly by SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects. SCP-XXXX’s containment procedures, however, have been determined to be accurate to SCP-XXXX’s requirements to a high degree of accuracy, with no misinformation included. The current documentation is therefore considered of adequate quality; any further attempts to fix these issues are therefore disallowed, as they will most likely result in failure.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently contained in Site-███, Ángel Sandoval, Bolivia to minimise its effects. SCP-XXXX is to be treated as though an adult human female would be; it is to be fed regularly, provided with a room with a bed, and is to be supplied with reading material on request. SCP-XXXX is otherwise co-operative and non-hostile, and can be restrained easily if required.
SCP-XXXX is to be kept away from soil and areas of high foliage density; this can confuse personnel and may lead to a containment failure. When another staff member treats SCP-XXXX inappropriately they are to be removed from containment duties immediately and reminded of the difficulties of containment of SCP-XXXX.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a 32-year-old Indonesian woman, measuring 1.56 meters in height and weighing 46 kilograms. SCP-XXXX is mostly biologically healthy and standard, with the notable exception of a complex web of root-like structures apparently replacing around 49 bones within her body, mostly within the ribcage area.
SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects take the form of an extremely potent and powerful cognitohazard; this cognitohazard affects all researchers that come into contact with SCP-XXXX, regardless of any cognitohazard protections applied beforehand. The effect will also be unnoticed by affected personnel and will significantly impact their performance in containment of SCP-XXXX unless regularly checked for accuracy. This effect lessens in impact when both objects are separated by a long distance, with a strong correlation between distance and strength.
When the cognitohazard takes effect upon an observer, they will subconsciously perceive SCP-XXXX not as a 30-metre-tall tree but as SCP-YYYY, an Indonesian woman. They will treat SCP-XXXX as though it is SCP-YYYY, will often make references to SCP-YYYY when speaking about SCP-XXXX, and will even attempt to ask SCP-XXXX questions, despite its obvious inability to answer.
This cognitohazard also affects descriptions of SCP-XXXX, including containment files; multiple instances of confusion between SCP-XXXX and SCP-YYYY continue to persist within the containment files for both objects. Attempts have been made to remedy this issue, but all end in failure; researchers will often proclaim that the procedures for containing SCP-XXXX and SCP-YYYY have been “fixed”, when in fact more errors have been introduced.
SCP-XXXX was first brought to Foundation attention on 03/04/2013 when it caused a public outcry in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta; multiple witnesses reported seeing a human forehead protruding from the soil of a nearby field. After SCP-XXXX was pulled from the soil by multiple locals, it collapsed upon an elderly villager, severely injuring him. Later investigation sparked Foundation interests when SCP-XXXX was revealed to have been a tree rather than a human, as had been originally reported. SCP-XXXX was air-lifted by a Foundation helicopter to the more isolated Site-███ in Ifugao, where it was planted in a recently constructed open-air containment unit.
SCP-XXXX has apparently welcomed containment and is co-operative with Foundation staff; it claims its the anomalous effects have negatively impacted its life, and sees the Foundation as a refuge from these effects. Numerous interviews with SCP-XXXX have revealed its connections with SCP-YYYY.
Note: Due to the anomalous effects of SCP-YYYY, it is compulsory for all researchers to contain SCP-YYYY with a high level of contextual awareness, especially in regards to SCP-YYYY’s health and wellbeing. It is highly recommended for researchers to regularly consider if current containment measures are relevant to SCP-YYYY, or if they are relevant to SCP-XXXX. It is also recommended for this reason that the containment file for SCP-XXXX is read in conjunction with this file.
SCP-YYYY’s description includes multiple cases of inaccurate and misleading information, caused directly by SCP-YYYY’s anomalous effects. SCP-YYYY’s containment procedures, however, have been determined to be accurate to SCP-YYYY’s requirements to a high degree of accuracy, with no misinformation included. The current documentation is therefore considered of adequate quality; any further attempts to fix these issues are therefore disallowed, as they will most likely result in failure.
Item #: SCP-YYYY
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: To minimise the anomalous effects of SCP-YYYY, it is contained in Site-███, Ifugao, Indonesia. SCP-YYYY is to be cared for as a regular member of its species of tree would be; it is to be watered frequently and exposed to adequate sunlight. It is also recommended that adequate food supplies for an adult human female are supplied to SCP-YYYY in case of significant confusion in containment procedures.
Description: SCP-YYYY is a 120 year old member of the Calophyllum neoebudicum family of trees, measuring 30 metres in height and weighing around 2,500 kilograms. SCP-YYYY is mostly biologically standard for a tree of its kind, with the notable exception of a human spine embedded in its trunk. X-rays conducted on SCP-YYYY also reveal that it possesses both a nervous system within its trunk and several bones within some of its branches.
SCP-YYYY’s anomalous effects take the form of an extremely potent and powerful cognitohazard; this cognitohazard affects all researchers that come into contact with SCP-YYYY, regardless of any cognitohazard protections applied beforehand. The effect will also be unnoticed by affected personnel and will significantly impact their performance in containment of SCP-YYYY unless regularly checked for accuracy. This effect lessens in impact if both objects are separated by a large distance, with a strong correlation between distance between objects and strength of cognitohazard.
When the cognitohazard takes effect upon an observer, they will subconsciously perceive SCP-YYYY not as an Indonesian woman, but as SCP-XXXX, a 30-metre-tall tree. They will treat SCP-YYYY as though it is SCP-XXXX, will often make references to SCP-XXXX when speaking about SCP-YYYY, and will even attempt to bury SCP-YYYY in soil in the hopes that it will “grow” into a fully formed tree, despite SCP-YYYY’s human form. This cognitohazard also gives those affected knowledge of SCP-XXXX that they have never been exposed to outside of contact with SCP-YYYY.
This cognitohazard also affects descriptions of SCP-YYYY, including containment files; multiple instances of confusion between SCP-YYYY and SCP-XXXX continue to persist within the containment files for both objects. Attempts have been made to remedy this issue, but all end in failure; researchers will often proclaim that the procedures for containing SCP-YYYY and SCP-XXXX have been “fixed”, when in fact more errors have been introduced.
SCP-YYYY was first discovered 13 kilometres outside of Berlin, after an incident of “public hysteria” alerted the Foundation to the presence of an anomaly. It had been reported that a hysteric group of around 12 people had attempted to forcibly insert SCP-YYYY into a “grave” that had been buried while SCP-YYYY was under restraint. SCP-YYYY was rescued shortly afterwards, before being taken into Foundation custody; there, it described its anomalous effects and requested assistance.
Other than SCP-YYYY’s anomalous effects, SCP-YYYY is harmless while in containment; its actions, however, seem to indicate an advanced level of sentience or sapience. Sonar scanning has revealed that the object's roots appear to grow in the direction of SCP-XXXX; the roots appear to protrude into the ground in a snake-like manner, following the directions SCP-XXXX has moved.
SCP-YYYY has shown sapience more directly through marks made in its trunk. By scribing questions into the bark of SCP-YYYY it is possible to converse with it, as responses will be carved into the bark below the original question.
