Computer-generated heatmap of SCP-2649 radiation output

Item #: SCP-2649

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2649 cannot be transported to any existing Foundation Secure Facilities at this time due to the object's paradoxical nature. The object is currently contained at Provisional Site-███ in Unit 12. The object is surrounded by a 1m x 1m x 1m vacuum-sealed nickel-magnesium alloy box with a vacuum aspirator - Magnesium prevents any radiation leaks, whilst nickel is strong enough to resist the vacuum. Access is via a lead-lined panel sealed by a neoprene gasket. Unit 12 is a 3m x 3m x 2.5m standard concrete containment room. Instances of SCP-2649-A are to be detained in E-Class cells until further notice.

Any personnel entering the containment unit are required to wear a lead-lined hazmat suit and use visual technologies (camera, night-vision goggles, or similar item) that prevent direct eye contact with the object. Personnel are not to touch the object at any time, for any reason.

At this time, SCP-2649 may only be accessed by researchers with Level 4 security clearance. Experiments on the object must be granted approval by the Site Director on duty.

Description: SCP-2649 is a paradoxical object of unknown mass and shape. Humans cannot comprehend the object's geometry, experiencing migraines and paranoia when exposed to it. Experiments confirm that it is not affected by gravity or magnetic fields, but the object does emit large quantities of gamma radiation. It is theorised that the object is four-dimensional in nature.

Further testing has also suggested that the object may possess some psychotropic effect. The object influences the mind of whoever touches it, causing them to experience visions of beings from a higher dimension.

SCP-2649-A is a designation for people who have been influenced by the object. The only known instance of SCP-2649-A is Samuel Hale, formerly a member of Mobile Task Force ██████. Subject claims that the object showed him a vision, although it is unknown whether this is factual given the subject's current mental state.

Note from Dr. Cyrus: It is entirely possible that Hale's brain constructed this story after attempting to comprehend the true nature of the object. After all, the human brain can do some strange things when it finds something it cannot understand.

The object was originally discovered by [DATA EXPUNGED] on ██/██/████, who created the object as a result of their research.
