Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1 must be kept in the specially engineered vacuum-sealed container, designated SCP-XXXX-2 unless being handled by a Level 4 research specialist at all times, without exception. Any transportation of SCP-XXXX-1 or SCP-XXXX-2 must be conducted by Class D personnel, who are then to be quarantined for further study. Any researcher with Level 4 clearance may enter the designated area to conduct experimentation. All handling and experimentation on SCP-XXXX-1 has been suspended. See Addendum XXXX-001.

SCP-XXXX-2 must be directly connected to a dedicated power source with an output of no less than 50 MW. SCP-XXXX-2 is not to be removed from the deisgnated containment area without written Level 5 authorization for any purpose at any time. See Addendum XXXX-001. SCP-XXXX is to be kept in the designated area in facility [CLASSIFIED] and guarded by a minimum of one (1) Level 3 security officer at all times.

If at any time SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be malfunctioning (indicated by anything other than a green light on the display), security personnel must call a Level 4 Containment Specialist at [CLASSIFIED].

Due to the incident summarized in Addendum XXXX-001, guard rotations of Level 3 security personnel are to be kept to a maximum of eight (8) hours per 24 hours, with no more than 3 consecutive days on duty. All level 3 security personnel who are assigned this post must undergo quarterly mental and physical evaluations. In addition, the facility will now be under direct supervision of a Level 4 Security Director and a Level 4 Containment Specialist at all times.

Description: SCP-XXXX-1 is an object of undetermined origin, undetermined size, and undetermined composition. SCP-XXXX-1 is a highly volatile and extremely sensitive object which cannot come to contact with anything other than SCP-XXXX-2. If SCP-XXXX-1 comes into contact with any other substance, it immediately begins to consume that substance by an unknown means. During this process, SCP-XXXX-1 begins mimicking the shape of the substance with the alteration of appearing crystalline. Currently, SCP-XXXX1-1 is approximately .3 meters in length, weighs approximately 400 kilograms (although this is only an estimate) and has the overall appearance of a human hand and forearm made of a white opalescent crystalline substance. See Addendum XXXX-001.

SCP-XXXX-2 appears to be a container made of painted black steel, approximately 1.5m x 1.5m x 1 m. The container has a hinged lid, though no hinges are visible, and opens upward to reveal a black leather lined interior, in which sits SCP-XXXX-1. The composition of the container, lining, power cord, and indicator light all appear to be standard technology. However, there are no manufacturer marks or distinguishing features of any kind. The power cord appears to be a standard 120V power cord with three pronged plug, but the only markings anywhere on SCP-XXXX-2 are the words "CONSTANT 50 MW POWER" etched into the top of the lid. When the lid is opened, the indicator light on the outside of SCP-XXXX-2 begins to flash yellow, and there is a release of air pressure. It is assumed that the container is pressure sensitive or contains an internal regulation system due to the constant temperature inside the container, but scans of SCP-XXXX-2 cannot determine this.

If the lid is left open for a period of longer than 10 minutes or SCP-XXXX-1 is removed from the interior of SCP-XXXX-2, the indicator light turns red and a small alarm begins to sound. This alarm increases in decibel and pitch the further away SCP-XXXX-1 gets from SCP-XXXX-2. SCP-XXXX-1 has never been removed beyond 5 meters of SCP-XXXX-2. There is no indication that this relationship represents any artificial or sentient intelligence, but scans of both SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2 cannot determine any circuitry, wiring, or any other means of autonomous regulation.

Addendum XXXX-001: During the course of standard protocols, security officer [REDACTED], became mentally unstable. Security officer attempted to remove SCP-XXXX-1 from SCP-XXXX-2 during an inspection of the facility. Security officer became extremely aggressive, fought through several Class A personnel, and touched SCP-XXXX-1. Security officer became rapidly consumed by SCP-XXXX-1 while SCP-XXXX-1 began to mimic security officer. [CLASSIFIED] pushed security officer into SCP-XXXX-1, whereupon the lid to SCP-XXXX-2 closed. Observation of SCP-XXXX-1 by [CLASSIFIED] revealed current appearance of SCP-XXXX-1. Due to the last log entry (below) of security officer, SCP-XXXX has been reclassified from "Safe" to "Euclid."
