Item #: SCP-2895
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-2895's lack of hazardous properties and inability to escape its containment area, no major containment protocols are necessary. The area in which SCP-2895 is capable of navigating (henceforth designated Alpha Zone) is to be observed continuously by Foundation satellites and ground probes; any significant deviations in SCP-2895's behavior or status are to be reported to O5 Command immediately.
The Foundation's presence must remain imperceptible to SCP-2895. Under no circumstances should Foundation personnel or probes operate while SCP-2895 is conscious. Failure to abide by this protocol is cause for immediate reassignment and, in extreme circumstances, demotion to D-Class.
Description: SCP-2895 designates a lone Soviet Union cosmonaut, identified as Alexi Karvinsky, located in the western hemisphere of Mars. Though the subject exhibits no physical abnormalities and does not exhibit any hazardous properties, SCP-2895 shows an inability to expire of natural causes or through his own actions. As the sole member of the Agata 6 mission, both his family and other organized governments remained unaware of the Soviet presence on Mars; all information and documentation pertaining to the mission remains in the possession of the Foundation.
Once every twelve weeks, SCP-2895 will traverse the face of a nearby mountain, classified OR-12. OR-12 continuously emits an interference field that prevents Foundation satellites from capturing accurate photographs of the area. SCP-2895 is unaffected by this field and will enter a schism within the mountain - henceforth classified Beta Zone - within three days of their resuscitation.
Once inside, SCP-2895 will remain within Beta Zone for no fewer than five days, at which point he will emerge and return to his original position at the base of the mountain. Immediately upon reaching this point, SCP-2895 will collapse and expire, exhibiting no vital signs. Attempts made by Foundation probes to provoke a reaction from SCP-2895 have proven futile; however, SCP-2895 will revive twelve weeks following this, seemingly with no outside assistance.
The nature of SCP-2895's condition and its origin is unknown. Research regarding it is ongoing.
