Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A sample of SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a freezer, at a constant temperature of -6°C, at Bio Site-27's low-value storage area. Experimentation is to be carried out only with approval from the current Site-27 director.
News sources are to be monitored by the Foundation for any indication of an SCP-XXXX outbreak. In the event that any specimens of SCP-XXXX are found in the wild, Protocol-10-Entozoon will be carried out, involving the quarantine and amnestization of the affected peoples, and the incineration of SCP-XXXX specimen.
As of Incident-5208-Alpha, the use of mechanical pencils are now prohibited within Site-██. Personnel are required to instead use wooden pencils, pens, or electronic devices for writing.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a parasitic nematode resembling a ███ brand mechanical pencil. Testing has revealed SCP-XXXX to be genetically similar to the species Dracunculus medinensis. SCP-XXXX usually inhabits high schools. Due to its similarity in appearance to a mechanical pencil, human subjects will often mistake it as such and use it to write.

SCP-XXXX will lay microscopic larvae into any piece of graphite inserted into it. The larvae can remain in stasis indefinitely, however when they come in contact with human skin they become 'active' and will burrow into the subject's skin. This process produces a mild burning sensation, but is otherwise undetectable.
From there, SCP-XXXX will incubate within the subject for a month. Once fully grown, SCP-XXXX will exit by forming a ulcer on the subject's lower leg and emerging from it over the course of a week. This process creates intense pain localized for the subject localized on SCP-XXXX's path of travel, and it is difficult for the subject to walk or work. In addition, during the emergence the subject is prone to fever, nausea, vomiting and infection within the ulcer. Once fully emerged, SCP-XXXX will utilize limited movement in order to move to areas where pencils are commonly found, such as classrooms.

Due to the fact that SCP-XXXX larvae are embedded in graphite and that they can remain in stasis indefinitely, any writing using SCP-XXXX can cause an infection even after prolonged periods of time. As thus, any marks made using graphite in a SCP-XXXX infested area must be destroyed.

SCP-XXXX was initally discovered after the investigation of reports of students in the ██████ High School having pencils lodged within their bodies. The Foundation was able to clear the area of SCP-XXXX infection via incineration of all affected areas and surgical removal of SCP-XXXX from all students affected. The entire district was amnesized and were given a cover story of classroom violence and arson.

Incident Report-4217-Alpha: On ██/██/17, an outbreak of SCP-XXXX was discovered within Site-██, after multiple researchers' reports of being affected with SCP-XXXX. Site-██ was put in quarantine for a month, with all affected personnel undergoing surgical removal of SCP-XXXX.

Note: I still don't know how this thing managed to breach containment, but make sure it doesn't happen again. Not only is it painful as hell, but we ended up having every single written document incinerated in case it had SCP-XXXX in the graphite. Trust me, that's a hell lot of work to make up. -Dr. C█████
