SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard Safe item locker at Site ██. Use of SCP-XXXX requires the authorisation of Site Director █████. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are to be contained in a standard humanoid containment cell onsite. Instances not used for long-term study of SCP-XXXX’s effect are to be returned to non-anomalous humans at the completion of SCP-XXXX’s testing, and the test subject is to be retained until SCP-XXXX’s residual effect ends.

Description:

SCP-XXXX is a standard black clapperboard, with a black and white striped clap-stick. The board is lacking manufacturing marks. The section of the board which would normally contain the director, producer, scene number and time stamp is blank. The anomalous effect is generated upon the clap-stick being used by a human to create a clap noise while also simultaneously saying 'Cut' while at least 1 other human is present. The volume of either noise does not appear to influence the activation of the anomaly.

After the activation of SCP-XXXX, the other humans disassociate with their own personality, adopting entirely new personalities. Humans under the effect of SCP-XXXX are henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-1 instances, while the original personality is referred to as the original idenitity for the sake of clarity. Each SCP-XXXX-1 instance is entirely separate in personality from the person it comes from. Each instance displays perfect memory of the original identity’s memories, and are capable of recalling events the original identity could not, even those removed via amnestic, however, instances do not have, or are extremely unwilling to discuss, their own past.

SCP-XXXX-1 instances claim to be actors or actresses, playing the part of the original identity in a televised dramatic medium. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are often entirely different from the original identity in every way except physical, showing different habits, likes and dislikes, and different accents and perceived nationalities. Each instance is different, but all perceive the events of the original identity’s life as part of a drama, in which the original identity is a protagonist. Instances behave as if in between takes of filming, discussing their opinions on the events of the original identity’s life, and repeating things the original identity has said in the last 24 hours, as if practising lines. SCP-XXXX-1 isntances are generally relaxed and willing to answer questions and enquiries as to the original identity’s actions and the ‘Drama’ they are acting in.

If SCP-XXXX is reactivated using the word 'Action’, SCP-XXXX-1 return to the original identity’s normal personality immediately. Affected persons show no memory of the events that take place while they are under the effects of SCP-XXXX. Those who undergo the effect of SCP-XXXX often experience severe personality disassociation after the effects end, which varies in duration and severity depending on how long they spent as an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. The affected have difficulty in expressing their own personality and opinions, and describe feelings of being unable to relate to their own thoughts, and not feeling emotion from their own actions. More severe cases result in being unable to return to their own personalities, entering a pseudo-vegetative state, with no emotion or aspiration beyond basic human needs.
