Item #: SCP-1756

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-1756-A through SCP-1756-C is contained inside a bio dome on Bio Site-66, 3.22 km in diameter containing an approximation of a deciduous forest. This biome is to be kept under negative air pressure, with air being drawn through the on-site incinerator. This air is to be monitored for any viral agents pertaining to SCP-1756-C.

All instances of SCP-1756-A and SCP-1756-B are to be monitored remotely using GPS and embedded RF ID tags. In the event of the death of an instance of SCP-1756-B, any remains of SCP-1756-A are to be recovered as soon as possible by at least five properly read-in members of Mobile Task Force Omicron-9 ("Hot Zone Dancers"). Due to the presence of instances of 1756-C, all persons involved in recovery of 1756-B must maintain constant line of sight with one another. Engagement with 1756-C is discouraged, but understandably necessary.

Any damage to the positive pressure suits is grounds for immediate quarantine.

Description: SCP-1756-A is a previously unknown form of endoparasite. Upon infection with SCP-1756-A the infected will enter a latency period. During this time SCP-1756-A attaches to the amygdala, hippocampus, and pituitary gland. It is unknown what determines the end of the latency stage and progression into Stage 1, but prevailing data points to a pivotal moment of intense and/or unexpected fear which SCP-1756-A then maps and reinforces in the hosts brain. This reinforcement takes the form of repeated night terrors, hallucinations and hyper vigilance centered on the triggering event. These symptoms are linked with exponentially heightened responses in the aforementioned neural structures as well as well as the basal ganglia. Directly prior to Stage one these symptoms will begin to induce a 'fight or flight response' that is heightened in severity and duration.

At the beginning of Stage One the subject is to be designated an instance of SCP-1756-B and is to be considered a Level 4 Biohazard. During this stage SCP-1756-A will spread a series of secondary organs similar to sweat glands to intersect with the lungs and heart of SCP-1756-B. These organs archive and process all viruses present in the host in a manner similar to that of SCP-███, with the distinct goal of producing the mutagenic viruses that result in SCP-1756-C. These mutations appear to be focused around recreating the mapped experiences in 1756-B.

After finishing this production, SCP-1756-B will enter Stage 3. This is classified by both the release of these viruses via the bronchus, and the release of eggs for the propagation of SCP-1756-A into SCP-1756-B’s bloodstream.

Any individual infected by 1756-B will present flu-like symptoms, coupled with an unusually high metabolism. After a period of ten days, there is a marked increase in aggression towards humans. This is mainly directed at the originating instance of 1756-B but, in its absence, 1756-C will direct it at anyone present. After 15 days, physical abnormalities will become apparent along will heavily aggressive and homicidal tendencies towards the source instance of 1756-B. After 28 days, 88% of the instances of 1756-C will have finished all physical changes.
