SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-3117

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3117 is to be kept in a brightly lit room. SCP-3117 is to be fed twice a day with the most readily available solid matter. When personnel enter SCP-3117's enclosure, they must be armed at all times.

Description: SCP-3117 is a humanoid creature whose appearance varies mildly in different instances, but always retains similar shape. SCP-3117 has, since its last breach attempt, retained the form of a humanoid approximately 2 meters tall with dark black skin and an oblong body with a head with circular red eyes 15 centimetres in diameter. SCP-3117 has four legs akin to that of a crab, curving into a point. SCP-3117 has a circular mouth lined with rows of teeth and can extend tendrils from its mouth with similar mouths on the ends of them, and the maximum length of these tendrils is undetermined. SCP-3117 has been observed with the teeth on the end of its tendrils pointing outwards instead of inwards for feeding purposes. SCP-3117 has two arms approximately 1 meter long, each ending in a hand with five claws that can extend from 5 centimetres to 20, which SCP-3117 has been observed cutting a line down its torso and opening itself using these claws, at which point it may enter a trance state if prey or food does not come by fast enough. Inside of SCP-3117 is a void home to an entity known as SCP-3117-1.

SCP-3117-1 is an invisible and malevolent entity, only detectable by the high levels of radiation inside SCP-3117 when SCP-3117-1 is present. SCP-3117-1 has been observed terminating its prey through unknown means. As of this writing, it is unknown if SCP-3117-1 is able to exit SCP-3117.

Test Log 1: Approximately 1 kilogram of granite was introduced into SCP-3117's enclosure. SCP-3117 warily approached the stone, prodding it with a claw. SCP-3117 carved a slit into its torso and pried it open before picking up the granite and placing it inside the cavity. The cavity closed, and SCP-3117 returned to the corner. No behaviour out of the ordinary was observed in the following days and it is assumed that SCP-3117's sustenance does not need to be organic.
We're going to save so much money on food. - Dr Dranken

Test Log 2: A heat-resistant camera equipped with lights, sonar, a Geiger counter, and a feed to Site ██ was placed inside 10 kilograms of raw beef. SCP-3117 placed the meat inside its cavity and closed it before retreating to its corner. The camera feed showed nothing with its light, but the sonar showed that the void inside SCP-3117 ended somewhere. The feed ended when the Geiger counter detected extremely high levels of radiation.
There's far more to this creature then we realized. We need to find a way to see what's at the bottom of SCP-3117. - Dr Dranken

Test Log 3: SCP-3117 has been reported by field operatives to "travel through shadows". However, SCP-3117 has also been reported to cause mild insanity in those that encounter it, thus rendering these reports obsolete. However, SCP-3117 does appear to be somewhat sedated by light, so every light in SCP-3117's enclosure was turned off, and a sonar-based camera detected SCP-3117 disappearing into the darkness. Security outside the enclosure reported SCP-3117 standing there with its mouth tendrils extended. Security officers incapacitated SCP-3117 with high-calibre gunfire.
Get brighter lights. And don't ever turn them off. - Dr Dranken

Exploration Log 1: SCP-3117 was lulled into a trance state by introducing D-1986 into its enclosure and then removing him. SCP-3117's cavity remained open as D-1986, equipped with a helmet with a built-in radio, camera, and flashlight of 100 lumens, a Geiger counter, and a Colt M1911 handgun. What follows is the transcript of the conversation between D-1986 and Dr Dranken.
Dr Dranken: Please turn on your helmet light.
D-1986: Alright.
Dr Dranken: Thank you.
D-1986: This place is supposed to end somewhere, right?
Dr Dranken: Yes. Do you not see a wall?
D-1986: I don't see much of anything.
D-1986 looks down.
D-1986: Actually, check that. The floor looks like I'm standing on water.
Dr Dranken: Please elaborate.
D-1986: The floor is just as dark as the rest of this place, but when I step, there's a splashing noise and I can see a layer of water as far as my light shines.
Dr Dranken: Please continue on.
D-1986 continues walking for an hour before the following conversation.
D-1986: Hold on. I see something.
D-1986 runs toward his unseen objective.
D-1986: It looks like some kind of- whoa!
D-1986 discharges his weapon several times into the darkness and the Geiger counter ticked loudly for several seconds in the silence before the audio and video feeds turned to static.
Dr Dranken: D-1986? D-1986! Damn it! I have to know what that thing was. So close. So close.

Exploration Log 2: SCP-3117 was lulled into a trance by introducing D-1645 to its enclosure and removing her. D-1645 entered inside of SCP-3117 equipped with a helmet with a built-in radio, flashlight of 1,000 lumens, food and water for 1 day, a Geiger counter, and a Colt M1911 handgun.
What follows is the transcript of the conversation between D-1645 and Dr Dranken.
Dr Dranken: Please turn on your helmet light.
D-1645: Okay.
Dr Dranken: Thank you. Proceed.
D-1645: Why am I doing this? There's nothing here.
Dr Dranken: You're doing this because there is something in there, and you're going to find it.
D-1645: If you say so.
D-1645 continues walking for 12 hours, stopping twice for food and water. After 15 hours, D-1645 stops walking.
D-1645: Doctor?
Dr Dranken: What is it?
D-1645: I think I see something.
This excites Dr Dranken.
Dr Dranken: What do you see? It's not on the camera. What does it look like? What is it?
D-1645: I'm not quite sure, but I think it's dangerous.
Dr Dranken: That hasn't stopped me before. You have a gun. Approach it.
D-1645 slowly approaches whatever she saw, and the video feed turns to static before a roar and several gunshots sound through the radio. After the sixth gunshot, there is no sound for several seconds except for the Geiger counter ticking loudly before the sound turns to static.
Dr Dranken: Not again! Not again! I need to know what's in there. What. Is. It.

Exploration Log 3: D-1001 was equipped with a helmet with a built-in radio, camera, and flashlight of 1,000 lumens, as well as a food and water rations for 1 day and a Geiger counter. D-1001 was accompanied by Dr Dranken, who was equipped with a chest-mounted camera and a Colt M1911 handgun and 19 magazines of ammunition. Dr Dranken walked into the room and shouted at SCP-3117 for several minutes until it fell into a trance state. He left the room and came back walking behind D-1001.
Dr Dranken: Get in there.
D-1001 hesitates for a moment. Dr Dranken points the M1911 at him.
Dr Dranken: I said get in there!
D-1001 warily crawls inside SCP-3117, followed by Dr Dranken. D-1001 and Dr Dranken walk for several hours, stopping for food and water once and resting three times. Eventually, D-1001 sees something.
D-1001: Doctor, what's that?
Dr Dranken: What's what? There's nothing there!
D-1001's Geiger counter starts ticking loudly.
Dr Dranken: Wait! Radiation. Get in front of me.
D-1001: Why?
Dr Dranken: Why? It's 3117-1! Now Get in front of me!
D-1001 obeys, standing in front of Dr Dranken while he aims the M1911 over D-1001's shoulder. The Geiger counter ticks louder, and Dr Dranken cocks the hammer of his gun.
Dr Dranken: It's coming. Can't you feel it?
Dr Dranken points the gun at D-1001's ear and fires it once. D-1001 falls to the ground and sinks into the void.
Dr Dranken: I can see you! Get over here!
Dr Dranken fires several shots and [DATA EXPUNGED] Dr Dranken crawled out of SCP-3117 93 minutes later, covered in vertical slash marks and [REDACTED]. Dr Dranken pulled an ammunition magazine out of his coat and pointed it at one of the 5 researchers surrounding him.
Dr Dranken: I'll shoot! I swear to █████, I'll shoot! I'll, I'll, I'll shoot!
Dr Dranken dropped the magazine and pulled the M1911 out of his coat.
Dr Dranken: I'll shoot. I'll shoot. I'll shoot.
Repeating this phrase, Dr Dranken shoots all 5 researchers before security officers can react by █████ing him.
