Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All captured instances of SCP-XXXX are to be maintained in an airtight, remotely locked weapon display rack. The rack is to be placed in the middle of a room, exceeding dimensions of 28m x 3m, and properly marked at the 14 meter radius. Multiple exits must be placed at the short side of the room. Any instance of SCP-XXXX must not be handled by its handle, except in approved tests. Only D-class experimental subjects may enter this radius; other personnel are not to enter the room. Members of Mobile Task Force Epsilon-5 (see Addendum-XXXX-01) are to be stationed outside of the radius during a test, armed with ranged weapons such as rifles and bows.

With regards to the specifications of the room, its multiple exits must be easily closed remotely, from a viewing room situated more than 14 meters from the rack.

In the event that a new instance of SCP-XXXX is discovered, Mobile Task Force Epsilon-5 is to track and contain the instance, eliminate the holder through ranged means and secure the instance via robotic transport, and placed inside a locked, opaque container.

In event of a containment breach, all entry and exits in the room must be closed prior to any actions. The apparent widespread and lethal nature of SCP-XXXX is to be investigated when the source of the instances are ascertained. In the meantime, containment of all instances is top priority for all personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a set of standard sport fencing implements, hereby referred to as swords. There are 12 such swords under Foundation control, designated as SCP-XXXX-?-X, where X is an integer corresponding to an exact sword, and ? corresponds to one of the three types of fencing implements - A for foil, B for épée, and C for saber. All are "dry" foils, unsuitable for electrically-scored tournaments. After exhaustive testing, it appears that the swords are made of standard tempered and annealed low-carbon steel, as most fencing swords are made of. There are 3 of each type secured in storage in Sector-19.

All instances of SCP-XXXX are visually non-anomalous, and indeed look like normal fencing implements. However, upon closer inspection, the sword produces a soft, humming sound, which apparently produces no anomalous effects upon any who hear it. The sword also induces anyone within viewing range and 14 meters to take a blade.

More anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX manifest when an instance of it is held by its handle. The holder will automatically assume one of the several legal stances of sport fencing, even without prior fencing knowledge, and move as if practicing. If any person is to come within 14 meters of the holder, the holder will salute as if in a formal fencing match. The other person, now known as the opponent, salutes as well, even without holding a sword.

After salutations, the holder proceeds on attacking, taking particular aim on the corresponding type's target areas. For example, a wielder of SCP-XXXX-B will target any part of the opponent's body within reach, while a wielder of SCP-XXXX-A will only target the torso.

If the blade is allowed to touch the opponent, the afflicted area will be sheared, the depth depending on the force of impact. Furthermore, the holder will be visibly enraged and attempt to make more hits on the opponent, while [REDACTED]. Upon the expiry of the opponent by any means, the holder turns upon any other person in the vicinity, whether holding a weapon or not. It then attacks with standard fencing moves. All humans and humanoids within a radius of 14 meters from the holder will remain rooted on the spot. It is currently unknown and untestable if this is a memetic or psychic effect of SCP-XXXX this lasts until the holder is the last one standing. The holder then commits suicide by [REDACTED]. (See Document #XXXX-02 Log13)

In addition to the common anomalous effects exhibited by all instances of SCP-XXXX, each type exhibits an effect unique to that type, which are as follows:

  • Type A (foils) instances enable their holder to

For information regarding the acquisition of the instances of SCP-XXXX, consult Document #XXXX-05.

Addendum-XXXX-01: After Incident ██████-██ where multiple casualties were obtained, Mobile Task Force Epsilon-5 (aka "Sharp Eyes")has been formed to deal with the acquisition of any reported instances of SCP-XXXX. All members must be proficient in ranged weaponry, aside from standard tactical team training. Their preference of weapon is of no importance.

D-2453, hereby referred to as the holder, was introduced into the 14 m radius. He then walked over to the display case, which was opened beforehand, and took a blade by its handle. He then took the en garde stance and started to 'practice.' D-1423, the opponent, was then introduced into the radius. The holder ceased motion and faced the opponent, saluting in normal fencing fashion. The opponent walked up to about 5 meters away from the holder, and saluted in similar fashion. The holder then proceeded to [DATA EXPUNGED]. After the expiry of the opponent, a tranquilizer dart was shot to contain the holder, and transported via robotic arm to outside of the radius. The sword was recovered similarly and taken to the rack. The holder regained consciousness after 3 hours, visibly upset and [REDACTED]. The subject gradually became more relaxed after another three hours and was asked for an interview. Below is a record of the said interview:

Interviewed: D-2453

Interviewer: Dr. █████████

<Begin Log, 1434H>

Interviewer: What did you feel when you held the blade? What did you see?

D-2453: It's as if I-I didn't have control of my body. I can see ██████, but I can't… I can't move.

Interviewer: But you did move. You [DATA EXPUNGED] (Interviewer described how subject terminated D-1423)

D-2453: Yeah, I guess I did. (Eyes widened in sudden stress) But it wasn't me, I tell you! It, it wasn't me…

Subject is again visibly upset.

Interviewer: So you saw how you… terminated D-1423.

D-2453: YES! YES I DID! I'M A MURDERER! I KILLED ███! I must die, must die, I must, die, die…

Subject curls into a fetal position, sobbing and repeating the sentence, "I must die."

<End Log, 1444H>

Closing Statement: D-2453 was found in his cell some days later. Evidence shows that he committed suicide by [REDACTED].

Document #XXXX-02 Log2
Two D-class experimental subjects, D-3271 and D-3272, were introduced simultaneously to the radius. They promptly took one blade each, at the same time. Nothing happened, but for safety reasons, both subjects were tranquilized before being extracted. Both subjects felt the sensation of being controlled remotely, but aside from this observation, there was nothing of note.

In an effort to see which part of the blade induces the effects to which it is linked to, Dr. ██████ has attempted to disassemble SCP-XXXX-A-2 into its component handle and blade. It has proven impossible to dissociate manually the blade and handle; any attempt to do so is met by mechanical failure of the tools to be used. Use of explosives to separate the two is being requested.

O5-█: Request approved for small, minor explosives. Destruction of A-2 in the duration of the experiment will be met with severe punishment.

Small explosives were attached to the screws and detonated. SCP-XXXX-A-2 remained intact, with no damage whatsoever.

NOTE: Tests regarding weaponizing of SCP-XXXX are being requested.

O5-██: Request denied. The whole point of the Foundation is to keep things such as this out of the public's eyes and God forbid, hands. Testing by Drs. ██████ and ████████ on the nature of SCP-XXXX are hereby suspended until no more of these things keep cropping up, or until we find the source and contain it. Let's face it, these things are deadly.
