SCP-####.

Item #:####

Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is to be kept in a standard containment locker at Site-73. Access to SCP-#### requires Level 2 Security Clearance or higher.

Description: Although SCP-#### does not exhibit and qualities of the element Au, it appears to be a gold-colored chain necklace with a cylindrical pendant of an unknown substance. Any measurements of the amount of gold composed in the object or what the object is composed of cannot be determined. Any attempts to alter, modify, or damage SCP-#### in any way have proven ineffective.

When worn as an accessory, SCP-#### will cause the wearer to enter a state of physical paralysis and mental absence. Tests have concluded that the subject cannot be roused without removing SCP-####. Subjects describe being fully aware and active in what is similar to that of an REM sleeping cycle, often impossible to differentiate between the dream and reality. Where the subject was or was doing upon initial application of SCP-#### does not affect the outcome of the scenario of the nightmare. SCP-#### will place the subject into a nightmare where they will be exposed to fear in variable amounts, ranging from slight discomfort to triggering the neural fight-or-flight response in the brain.

If SCP-#### were to be removed by another individual then the effects of SCP-#### will diminish. If SCP-#### were to be removed whilst inside the nightmare cycle, the wearer will be unable to exit and will remain in a permanent state of comatose.

Addendum-1: A test was conducted where the subject entered the dream cycle, whereupon the subject was discovered dead due to abrupt organ failure with no discernible explanation. Researchers theorize that it may have been caused by death while in the nightmare cycle.

Addendum-2: SCP-████ claims to have created it for Michael █████ in order to face ones fears. See test log-███. Additional information awaiting declassification by Dr. S. Rich.

Test Log-27A Dr. ██████ hypothesized that phobias may affect the individual's experience within the dream-state. Multiple tests were conducted with this theory.

Subject's Phobia: Claustrophobia
Scenario: Subject was placed in a congested elevator. Subject claimed a physical disability to properly inhale.

Subject's Phobia: Pedophobia
Scenario: Subject was placed in a room full of children reportedly 3 to 7 years of age. Children repeatedly requested him to "play with them."

Subject's Phobia: Sciophobia
Scenario: Subject was placed in a cave. Claimed being pursued by an unseen entity. Description of entity could not be recorded.

Conclusion: Subjects will experience fear or discomfort based on a specific phobia of the individual.
