Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is contained in a square steel box with a door on one side. The box is not to be opened at any time without permission. There are four miniature surveillance cameras on each corner on the inside of the box. In the event that a change to the containment is required, SCP-XXXX is to be removed from its containment and placed in a replacement box. Any staff who is designated to handle SCP-XXXX must wear a full body jumpsuit and gloves, to insure that direct skin contact is avoided.

Description SCP-XXXX is an unknown species of fungi that has been uprooted from the ground. It measures about 3.5 inches from the bottom of the stem to the top of the cap. The entity itself does not biodegrade, and all attempts to damage it have been futile. When direct skin contact from a living mammalian organism is made, that organism will over the course of approximately one (1) week, begin to decompose. These organisms are designated as SCP-XXXX-1 While in the process of decomposing, species of fungi will begin to grow on the organism that touched SCP-XXXX. These do not share the same properties as SCP-XXXX, but like SCP-XXXX, the species of mushroom that grow on SCP-XXXX-1 are of indeterminate genus. While decomposing, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 are fully alive and undergo no noticeable changes of mind. In most cases, instances of SCP-XXXX-1 last around twelve (12) hours until they die.
