Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the size of SCP-XXXX, permanent containment is currently not possible by any known means, although the area in which it is currently located has been secured. The area in which SCP-XXXX is currently located, which is around ███ km northeast of ████████, Russia, is cut off from the public and must by monitored by at least six (6) level three or higher security personnel and at least two (2) level three or higher research personnel. Anyone outside of Foundation staff that attempt access to the area with which SCP-XXXX is located must be deterred. The Foundation is using undercover agents within NASA to recover any satellite image of SCP-XXXX and doctoring any photography of SCP-XXXX in order to prevent its discovery by the public.

After the discovery of SCP-XXXX-4 in ██/09/194█, researchers are not permitted within the rainforest on SCP-XXXX's back without at least three (3) members of the security team accompanying them. Security personnel entering SCP-XXXX are to be outfitted with high-caliber firearms, motion sensors, and with chain mail armor under their uniforms. Subjects successfully bitten by instances of SCP-XXXX-4 are to be euthanized. Due to one of the anomalous natures of SCP-XXXX, research site ███ was established inside the edge of the rain forest in order to study the anomalous entities within.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears as a massive structure of rocks and mineral, strongly resembling a Chelonoidis nigra (or Galapagos Tortoise) measuring at about 6 km in height. The four appendages that support SCP-XXXX are about 2.5 km in length. The head of SCP-XXXX is roughly about 1.2 km in length. The mountain located on its back covers an area of 4,000 km2. About 10% of the minerals composing of SCP-XXXX's body have been identified as [DATA EXSPUNGED] while all other minerals have been either unidentified or have been proved inconclusive. Carbon dating of recovered known minerals has placed the age of SCP-XXXX to be approximately ██ million years old. SCP-XXXX seems to be sentient and is capable of movement. However, due to the temperatures of its current location and the freezing of its legs, its movement has been hindered by a considerable amount. SCP-XXXX moves at a rate of about .5 km every three days and appears to be [DATA EXPUNGED]. Occasionally, the mouth of SCP-XXXX will expel steam similar to that of a creature breathing in cold temperatures, though it's method of achieving this is currently unknown as thermal and x-ray scans of SCP-XXXX's body has shown no internal organs.

On the back of SCP-XXXX is a thick tropical rain forest with large grasslands near the southern hemisphere of the area, both completely unaffected by its current location. The reason for this seems to be a spatial anomaly that appears to start at the base of the mountain and extents to 2 km above both the canopy of the trees and the peak of the mountain. Temperatures within the rain forest have been measured as high as 43 degrees Celsius and as low as 18 degrees with a humidity at a constant 92%. Upon use of thermal scans from within the rain forest, it is shown that the mountain seems to emit a similar heat signature to that of magma chambers seen in volcanoes. These signatures have been observed to bend, twist, branch, and pulsate similar to that of the veins of a living animal. Air samples within the rain forest seem to have higher oxygen levels then the planet currently has at 35.█%. Carbon dating of the minerals located within the rain forest match the carbon dating of the minerals recovered from the outside body of SCP-XXXX. Visual observation of the area outside of the canopy of the rain forest seems to show a massive mountain range, each mountain peak appears to be of different size and shape. Thermal scans of these additional 'mountains' show similar heat signatures as SCP-XXXX, suggesting more instances of SCP-XXXX. Around 6█% of flora within the rain forest seem to correspond with fossil records of plant species that were alive at that time while other species have been unidentified. Some species located within the rain forest have shown to also possess anomalous properties.

All non-anomalous and anomalous entities cannot be studied in an official Foundation site as all entities seem to quickly expire and decompose once removed from the rain forest of SCP-XXXX. So far, the reason for this is unknown. Because of this, all entities are examined on site and within the rain forest at Research Site XXXX. This facility is located in the southeastern region of the rain forest. It is hypothesized that the area on SCP-XXXX’s back is the Earth, but ██ millions of years ago in the ██████ era, though it is currently unknown where the area could be from.

Documented Anomalous Entities within SCP-XXXX's rain forest

SCP-XXXX-1 instances are large trees, resembling a species of Astrocaryum murumuru, which measures at most 10 meters tall and is 3 meters in diameter at its widest point. The trunk and leaves of the tree is made out of an unidentified metal, with the leaves being sharpened on the edges. The tree seems to be filled with a red liquid similar to molten lava, though though gives off little heat. SCP-XXXX-1's leaves absorb light that contact it's surface, much in the same manner at which photosynthesis is conducted. It is currently unknown what SCP-XXXX-1 does with this light, but it is hypothesized that it serves the same function as sunlight does for non-anomalous plants.

SCP-XXXX-2 instances are small bushes that measure at 2 meters tall with a width of 1.5 meters. Instead of leaves and branches, SCP-XXXX-2 has six small mouths surrounding the trunk of the bush. These mouths stretch from a stem-like growth and appear as though they belong to a species of Serrasalmidae, though have no eyes and are highly aggressive, attacking any living creature that comes within 2 meters of the bush with a bite strength of almost twice that of normal species of Serrasalmidae. For unknown reasons, they seem to become docile when exposed to cold temperatures, much like a hibernating reptile becomes lethargic during winter. It is unknown if this aggressive behavior is for feeding or a defensive measure by the entity as it's feeding habits are yet to be observed.

SCP-XXXX-3 instances are small insects that measure 25 cm in length with a wingspan of 15 cm and resemble a species of Anisoptera (dragonfly). This entity has a single, long and sharp horn that measures 8 cm long and has the capability of flying at speeds of 35 kph. At these speeds the horn becomes dangerous, capable of piercing through most weak material like skin, thin glass, paper, and even thin enough metals. Instances of SCP-XXXX-3 are not inherently aggressive and seem to only use the horn on their head for gathering large fruits.

SCP-XXXX-4 instances are large predatory wolf-like entities that resemble a species of Mesonyx. They measure roughly 2.5 m in length and 1 m tall at the shoulder. SCP-XXXX-4 exhibits solitary hunting behaviors, though will occasionally hunt in pairs of two or three. Instead of a tongue, instances of SCP-XXXX-4 have a long sponge-like appendage within its mouth. Instances of SCP-XXXX-4’s mouths are coated with clear-colored venom, similar in appearance as normal saliva. Identifying this venom has proven fruitless as its chemical compound does not match any known forms of venom/toxins. Once the venom has entered the victim’s systems, it works slowly, eventually spreading to major muscle groups. During infection, the victims appear to bleed slowly, but profusely from every orifice. X-Rays of the victims show that the venom slowly corrodes and destroys the victim’s major muscle groups. This process can take anywhere between five (5) days to █ weeks, depending on the size of the victim. Once the process is complete, SCP-XXXX-4 then consumes the corpse and uses the sponge-like appendages to [REDACTED].

SCP-XXXX-5 instances are large birds that resemble a species of Phorusrhacidae, measuring around 3.7 m tall. SCP-XXXX-5 feathers reflect light off them, making them appear transparent or camouflaged. SCP-XXXX-5 shows a passive-aggressive hunting behavior, pairs of these entities stalking possible prey for hours or even days before attacking. They cannot be detected through heat sensors, as their reflexive feathers seem to also conceal their heal signatures; leading the use of motion sensors in order to detect their presence.

SCP-XXXX-6 instances are fungi that can be roughly 20 cm tall and resemble a species of Prototaxites and have the ability to move on four limbs growing from the bottom of their stems. Whenever a living and moving organism comes within 5 meters of SCP-XXXX-6, it rushes towards the source at speeds of 70 kph. Once they reach their intended target, they attach themselves to the organism and begin to multiply at an accelerated rate, covering their target until complete coverage is achieved. After roughly two hours of being completely covered, SCP-XXXX-6 begins to quickly decompose, leaving only the skeleton of the victim behind. So far, all attempts of removing SCP-XXXX-6 during this process have proven futile. Roughly 24 hours after the victim has been left behind, the victim's corpse will start sprouting stems with small bulbs on them, which will rapidly grow to around 10 cm in height with the bulbs being 12 cm in diameter. Roughly 20 minutes after the bulbs have grown to full size; they will burst, sending out what appears to be hundreds of seedlings. After these seedlings make contact with dirt, they will burrow themselves roughly 4 cm below the surface through unknown means. During a 3 week period, the seedling will grow into a new instance of SCP-XXXX-6.

SCP-XXXX-7 instances are large quadruped entities that resemble a subspecies of Rodhocetus. They act similar to normal herd animals, usually living in pods consisting of 5 to 8, ranging from newborns to young adult males and mature females. It has been observed that most mature males are driven off from the pod at the age of maturity. They are roughly 2 m in height at the shoulder and 4 m in length. These entities seem to 'swim' through the ground without actually disturbing the ground beneath them. They feed on grass by open their mouths and seemingly 'swallowing' a patch of grass, again, without disturbing the ground. Instances of SCP-XXXX-7 still appear to need to breathe in a similar way to water-borne mammals, as they can only stay ‘submerged’ for upwards of fifteen (15) minutes. The process in which they move and feed in this way is not currently understood and are difficult to study due to the efforts needed to capture and contain one.

SCP-XXXX-8 instances are 7 m tall fruit trees that resembles Prunus persica (or peach trees). The tree itself has no anomalous properties, but the fruits do. Whenever the fruits come into full bloom, which can take anywhere between █ weeks to ██ months, they take on multiple appearances of different fruits. So far; apples, peaches, bananas, pears, pineapples, and melons have been observed. The fruits themselves are very nutritious, possessing over three times the nutritional value of similar fruits. The anomalous nature of SCP-XXXX-8 appears when the tree itself is threatened in any manner, including any attempt to harvest the fruit that it bears. At this time, the fruits seem to grow large 9 cm long spikes, firing them at the source of threat until either death or retreat. These spikes are sharp enough to piercing clothing and skin, though normal body armor can protect from them. The method at which the spikes are grown, as well as how they fire, are currently unknown. If the fruits are successfully harvested, they no longer display this anomalous behavior.

SCP-XXXX-9 instances are a species of Blattodea (cockroaches). Unlike most species, they seem to only feed of dead organic material. Upon consuming this material, the creature appears to quickly increase in size and mass, proportionate to the amount of material consumed. Once the creature has become roughly twice it's average size of 10 cm, the organism experiences what appears to be violent seizures. This only lasts roughly ██ seconds before the exoskeleton cracks in two pieces. Once the exoskeleton falls off, it reveals two instances of SCP-XXXX-9. This process currently has no known limit to how many times it can occur.

Discovery Log: SCP-XXXX was discovered on ██/██/1915 by a Russian explorer team after reports of a mountain having moved from its original location and was reported to a scientific team stationed in Russia. An undercover agent found the account and reported it to the Foundation and Class-A amnestics were administered. It was initially believed that the mountain was simply capable of movement until the rain forest was discovered shortly after personnel were establishing containment.
